A social prescription for adults aged 18 and over who are:
- awaiting or receiving mental health support
- who have a diagnosis
Adults awaiting mental health support and/or with an existing diagnosis can feel anxious about attending regular social activities, and therefore it’s often far easier to avoid social settings, even though you may feel lonely as a result. It’s a very common ‘catch 22’ and one which we can help you overcome. In a safe and comfortable environment we can help people navigate through their mental health journey. Each person is supported to understand their feelings and how they can engage in healthier approaches to their self care, like using positive self-talk and knowing how to deal with a situation before it escalates. Besides helping each other in a small group of about six participants, we help each person to establish their circle of support within their own community.
Our nature based activities take place from our countryside venue called The
Snug, a cozy, converted Victorian Granary on the Longwood Farm Estate at the foot of the South Downs, near Winchester. Transport can be provided from a pick up point in Winchester if necessary.
Attendees become involved in running the sessions and choice of activities. This encourages self-worth and confidence within a social setting and encourages people to consider other activities they may like to try, either as a hobby, vocationally or possibly volunteering or work based. Activities at Country Club are all based on a nature theme, involving arts, crafts and time in the garden. We have an extensive herb garden too for people to take cuttings and develop a small herb garden on a ledge at home if they wish.
